Three Inches of Makeup

As I mentioned in my previous post, there will be good days, and there will be bad days.  Yesterday was one of mom’s bad days.  She stayed in bed most of the morning, then got up for a bit and watched a movie with me.  That was about all the energy she could muster.  It was a bit of a let-down after the great day she’d had the day before.

Bonus news, though, is that the drug company making (or perhaps shipping?) the Tarceva is just in Cary, so the pills arrived yesterday.  Mom is officially a biohazard, which probably sounds mean, but I think it’s pretty cool.  I’d threaten people: “Be nice, or I’ll throw poop at you and make you radioactive!”

I’d had a random idea yesterday while looking at the family pics in the hallway that maybe mom and I should go to Glamour Shots.  I thought it might make her feel pretty, and I thought it would be a fun way for us to spend time together.  She definitely did not feel up to it yesterday, but she made the appointment this morning without even asking first, so I guess that was a yes!

I think I’d momentarily forgotten that I HATE HATE HATE makeup, hairspray, and all of that good stuff.  I was just concentrating on what might make mom feel a bit better, especially in her gorgeous new wig.  Today, I got airbrushed with foundation, slathered with eye shadow, and made red with blush.  It took at least 30 minutes for the lady to do my hair and makeup, and I thought I was going to look like a clown.  Turns out, I look really hot.  Which sucks because I am not going to be wearing makeup, so now I’m going to think I’m even uglier.  😛

Our pictures turned out well.  Mom got a bit tired, but she was a champ.  It took them forever to get our pics ready to proof.  We found one that we both liked, so we’ll each have a 5×10 of the both of us.  And mom wanted me to get a “professional” shot to use for…I’m not sure what, but something to do with work?  Maybe for my Website.  We found a nice one for that, too.

I sent a picture of me in all that goop to Anthony.  He liked it.  Which is unfortunate for him because, again, it ain’t happening.  Dad really likes it too.  I will admit that it’s a pretty amazing transformation.  It will look even better in the pics we ordered because they will airbrush those!

We’re going out to dinner in a bit, but I just wanted to let you all know that mom was able to start her Tarceva and that we’re all doing okay.  We’ll be doing better after we get some sushi.  And I will be doing a lot better once I wash this gorgeous mask off my face!
